Interior

Dehler's groundbreaking 33CR features an innovative six-berth interior designed by designer Matteo Thun and beautifully executed in solid-frame mahogany joinerwork. Private double cabins fore and aft are spacious and each offers terrific storage, hanging lockers and ventilation. A novel idea employed by Dehler today is the "walk in" dry storage locker aft of the head (shown as a single berth in the drawings above), offering truly exceptional storage space for a boat of any size. Large Lexan deadlights, three opening ports and two hatches lend the interior a bright, open feel. Espar diesel heating takes the chill off those early- or late-season days.

Galley

Three-burner LPG stove with oven; top-loading refrigerated icebox; hot and cold pressurized water system; manual raw water pump; stainless sink; storage lockers with custom-fitted china.

Electrical

12V DC ship's system, upgraded with two Group 31 house batteries and one Group 27 starting battery (all Lifeline AGM), including new boxes and tie-down straps; Xantrex Truecharge 2 20amp battery charger; Xantrex Linklite 2 battery monitor; 110V AC shore supply; shore power cable. Lighting: LED navigation lights; halogen interior overhead and reading lamps; two recenty-added Imtra LED overhead lights (red in main cabin, white in forward cabin).

Engine & Mechanical

18hp freshwater-cooled Yanmar diesel with Saildrive, two-bladed folding prop, single lever controls; tiller steering with lightweight composite tiller (with extension); self-aligning JP3 rudder bearings (NEW 2011); manual head with stainless holding tank (NEW sanitation hoses).

The engine is professionally maintained each season, and has received a host of recent updates and upgrades over the past three or four years, including: Racor primary fuel filter assembly in lieu of the original; new fuel between tank and engine; metal muffler replaced with fiberglass; renewed and upgraded insulation/soundproofing in the engine box; new Saildrive gaskets and seals; new Yanmar wiring harness and ignition switch.

Electronics/ Navigation

In 2011, Vanquish was treated to a suite of new Simrad electronics, including: four IS20 multifunction cockpit displays above the companionway; 8" multifunction navigation display; GPS sensor; RC42 rate compass; TP22 Tillerpilot autopilot. Learn more about this beautiful new system by clicking here.

Hull & Deck

Teak deck surfaces; cockpit dodger (NEW glass and straps); cockpit cushions; cockpit shower (NEW); removable and adjustable cockpit table; anchor locker; Danforth anchor with rode; lazarette locker (removable); molded swim step with stainless ladder; Dehler cascading companionway closure system (patented); dark blue hull gelcoat with molded white striping; white gelcoat deck with molded blue accent striping.

Of note: Dehler's hull and deck are joined while still in their molds, creating a single-piece unit that has proven stiffer and more failsafe than any other technique. The remaining seam is covered by an aluminum extrusion with a replaceable plastic rubstrip. Construction is to German Lloyd Certification.

Sails
& Rigging

Anodized aluminum double spreader fractional rig, stepped on keel; stainless Dyform wire standing rigging (new V1s, V2s, D1s, backstay and wire block); NEW Yale Aracom Technora main and jib halyards, asymmetrical tack line and mainsheet; Furlex jib furling system w/new furling line; backstay adjuster; spinnaker gear, including dual-purpose aluminum pole (may be used for symmetrical spinnaker or extended through a ring on the bow, for use as a sprit for asymmetrical spinnakers); Dehler MainDrop System; Frederiksen BallSlide mainsail batten cars; Harken mainsheet traveler with new Harken blocks (4:1/8:1 system); mainsail cunnningham with Harken blocks; adjustable asymmetrical tackline system, including Schaefer blocks and Lewmar clutch on port side; all controls, including two reefs, led aft to Lewmar winches on the cabintop; winches serviced, and deck hardware/jib tracks recently rebedded.

Sail Inventory: 2011 Quantum Sails main (full battens, three reefs, of Dimension Polyant Strong Fill Dacron HTP+ 6.3); 2002 Quantum Sails main (Cuben Fiber); original Elvstrom main (dacron); 140% Quantum Sails genoa (kevlar); 2010 Quantum Sails 110% jib (Fusion M Technora/carbon with taffeta, furling cover); original Elvstrom jib (dacron); Quantum Sails V3 Asymmetric Spinnaker (Bainbridge Airx 650n).

Comments

As the first of the modern, Judel/Vrolijk designed Dehlers, it's no surprise that the 33 was a breakthrough. A lean, lithe hull with very short overhangs promises-- and delivers-- exceptional performance upwind and down, along with a "big boat" feel and tracking in a seaway. The 33 is a rarity in North America (it became the Dehler 34, which was introduced to the US in 2002). This particular boat was singlehanded from Finland by her original owner, testimony to her strength, ease of handling and all-weather capability, before being sold to her second owner. She was then sailed exclusively on Lake Champlain, replaced by a new Dehler 36 in 2003, and moved to the Dehler showspace in Chicago. From 2006 to present, she has been sailed as Vanquish on Narragansett Bay. Lovingly maintained and nicely upgraded during the past few years by her third private owner, Vanquish is a very special boat and a unique opportunity.
