| Dehler's home, Freienohl, is located in the picturesque Sauerland region of Germany, within two hours' drive of Dusseldorf and Cologne. To the casual driver-by, Freienohl could be mistaken for any number of delightful small German towns. For enthusiastic sailors, however, Freienohl is also the ancestral home to brothers Willi and Heinz Dehler.
In 1963, this charming city was changed forever when the first sailboat bearing the Dehler name left the yard, bound for the sea. She was one of the first fiberglass production boats in all of Europe, beginning a legacy of innovation and engineering greatness that lives on today.
Throughout decades of inevitable change in the boating industry, Dehlers have always been sporting, accessible and highly-engineered. Dehler has consistently been a leader in innovation, introducing features that have become common sailing conveniences. Single-line mainsail reefing is but one simple example.
There's a different flavor at Dehler than at most builders, rooted in their hand-crafted nature and small production volumes. "Factory" is too big a word for this quiet, though bustling, place. Tightly-knit, and with every element from basic engineering to final sailing yacht being performed right here, the Dehler facilities have a sense of family.
We think the way your boat is made is important, encouraging Stateside Dehler buyers to join us in Freienohl for a hands-on look at the construction process. In lieu of that, visit the links at left or follow the "continue" button below, for a peek at the difference a Dehler makes.
